Property Alert Update

Because of the tremendous amount of information and misinformation that is going around concerning the sale of the Atascocita Country Club and golf course we will try to update this website as new information becomes available.

Here are some commonly asked questions and concerns.

Why is ACIA even involved?

The ACIA is involved for two reasons. First, there was a great deal of concern about the negative impact on property values if something undesirable replaces the County Club and golf course. Secondly, the ACIA had a good way, through our newsletter mailing list, to reach the residents who would be affected. We had the means to notify residents about this event as well as a need to assess the level of interest and concern of our community. For those not attending the June 18 th meeting, there was a tremendous turnout of about 700 concerned residents. The majority of people showed a real interest in supporting the Club with at least a Social Membership.

What would I get with my membership?
As all of this is in the formative stage, other than hopefully helping to retain property values, other perks were not yet clarified.

W hat if I don't want to pay $25.00 a month to support the Club?
Without a change of our covenant and bylaws you can not be forced to buy a membership.

What can happen to golf course property that would be so bad ?
Again, no telling – could be commercial, could be residential - we are trying to be proactive and have some say in what might occur - once the Club closes that option is lost.

What happens if the club closes despite your best efforts ?
We would like to be actively involved in what happens should the Club close. There have been many suggestions for the use of the property from greenbelt hiking and biking trails to baseball and soccer fields to a county park. All possibilities will be considered.  We are listening to all input and suggestions with the understanding that we are working under a tight time constraint.

Can I help?
If you want to get involved, there is a website with additional information and opportunities to join committees and get involved. This website is www.accgetinvolved.com .

This is your community and your property values being discussed. All board members' emails are listed on this website. We represent you and can only represent you well if as many as possible of our residents let us know their views.  Have a say in what you would like to see happen as opposed to having a complaint about what occurred after the fact!
